Personal-ish: Not everybody uses Twitter

I have realized that not everybody uses Twitter. You wouldn't think this would be something that could slip my mind, since I myself have only been on Twitter for about three weeks, but I have apparently acclimated quickly and thoroughly enough that I think if I announce something on Twitter then that means everybody knows.

Totally unrelated picture of Geranium 'Rozanne' for decorative purposes. I'm really becoming fond of 'Rozanne:' she photographs so well.

So, first of all, Happy Canada Day to everybody. (Yes, including you non-Canadians. You have to enjoy it too.) I hope Canada Claus brought everybody just what they wanted (though I understand demand for Ryan Reynoldses far exceeded the supply), and everybody got to spend quality time with their families, gathered around the Canada tree, singing Canada carols and drinking iced chocolate and stuff. The husband and I have already exchanged gifts: we gave one another traditional Canadian goods: Margaret Atwood novels, loons, and health care. Now I have to figure out what one feeds a loon. Grain of some kind? Fish? Also, is there a way to make them quieter?

Second, one of my Twitters yesterday was:
Back from Iowa City. Bought an art photo, got legally same-sex married in the state of Iowa, rented Sawzall. Came home, let dog-in-law out.
So now you know.

Congratulations! I have so far managed to avoid Twitter so I am one of those who hadn't heard the news, but I can see I'm missing out ... :)
Seriously, the best of best wishes to both of you.

Congrats! I am celebrating with a sugary cinnamon and lemon beaver tail pastry, both for you two, your remaining hundreds of green friends and for my lovely country :)

Well, hell yes! Congrats Mr. S and Mr. Sspouse! It's a good time to do it, so many celebrations, all for you!

You're Canadian? I hung my homemade Canadian flag on my office door today, but I have to miss the festivities at the embassy. :(

And one feeds loons mercury, right? At least, we did in Nova Scotia. Makes the eggshells thin, it does.

Not Canadian, but something of a Canadaphile. If I get any more heat-intolerant, I may have to become actually Canadian, though I'd sort of hate to do that. I mean, all of my stuff is here.

Zeï:

Cinnamon and lemon? Not flavors I would have thought to put together. Was it good? I bet it was good.

All:

Thank you.

Congrats!!!!! ROFL! I thought it was a picture of a loon or some such. No, no, it was an ACTUAL bird. I think they have a hauntingly beautiful call.

Congratulations on your nuptials! And loons like fish, and I don't think there is a way to shut them up. My husband and I love Canada, we should start celebrating with similar Canada Day traditions! Thanks for the idea!

I think I'd become Canadian if there were more Ryan Reynolds to be found.

But congratulations on the marriage and may the rest of the states fall in line. Although, since I live in Texas, I may not live to see that.

Congratulations!

A Canadaphile? This is something of a first, isn't it? An American with no Canadian relatives with an interest in things Canuck? Quick, sir, you're so rare that you must be dipped in amber or bronzed or something.

As for celebrations, we don't generally exchange loons. They're messy, can't be house-trained and tend to eat all the sardines. Plus, at five of a summer morning, across a cold lake, suddenly hearing that hauntingly beautiful call can scare you out of your shorts. It's loud.

OMG, Mr. S.! You all actually did it. Congratulations!!!! And great joy to you both. We Luddites don't use Twitter, we feel grateful to be even semi-computer literate, so we're thrilled that you also posted about the nuptials. And I'm super-heat-and-humidity intolerant as well, so I fantasize about moving to Nova Scotia every single, miserable summer. But they probably wouldn't have me!

Hey! Congrats! Don't tweet up here in the puckerbrush so I'd missed the news. May you two (and the dog-in-law and the loon and the Sawzall) have a great honeymoon and long and happy years ahead.
