Picture: Acer sp. seedling

This would be a better picture with a different-colored background, but you blog with the maple seedling pictures you have, not the maple seedling pictures you wish you had.

I recognize that this is nothing amazing to most readers, and that this is basically a weed to a lot of people. But look! See how pretty the new little leaves are!

I feel bad about 5 times a day as I pull these ;)

That's a really nice one you've got though.

I wouldn't call it a weed, but I live in a place without any natural trees, or anything else green except thistle. Even our grass is normally brown.

I'm such a sucker for Acer seedlings; I steal them from clients' yards because I know they'll just be tossed, but all I can do is put them in pots in my own yard until they're too big to re-pot. I must say I'm a bit jealous of the one you found.

I'm with Andrew on this one!

There are thousands in my back yard, and I pull them all season long. At least the ones that have sprouted this year are quite easy to remove. If I miss them for a season, it gets harder.

I see your maple seedling found a new background while on vacation in hawaii:

LoL Hawaii... Mr. S, that maple does look cute--I like the reddish colour. Also, I like the tiny, tiny spider web that you can barely see in the lower left. Spiders make me happy, and maples are, quite possibly, my favourite tree--y'know, what with Canada and all.
