Pretty picture: Euphorbia pulcherrima

Okay, now you may all commence with the poinsettias, Norfolk Island pines, gift-giving one-upmanship, incessant and inescapable Christmas music, elaborate light displays, "War on Christmas," family politics, schmaltzy television specials about the true meaning of Christmas, lethal Black Friday sales, War on the War on Christmas, charity solicitations around every corner, subtly racist anti-Kwanzaa/anti-Hannukah jokes, impossible Martha Stewart-type expectations, and so forth.

Just try to keep it away from me as much as you can, and I want it all cleaned up by Boxing Day.

First person to make any reference to "A Christmas Carol" will be kneecapped.

lol, now that's the right way to ring in the holidays! It's just crazy to me that a poinsettia is a euphorbia. I just learned what that even was a few months ago but it just seems so different from the rest.

I am laughing at your Christmas spirit. Ouch! My knees!

Well, it was supposed to be funny. Kinda. Though it's also not insincere, particularly the part about the music.

It's not really the most wonderful time of year for some of us.

On the plus side, I haven't heard anything about anybody getting trampled to death today, so the 2009 holiday season is already better than the 2008 one.

I liked the version with Alastair Sim - dark and grim, always gets me in the spirit.

Do you think it's a coincidence that yesterday was Black Friday; all those stressed shoppers, crowded in malls, breathing on each other?

Maybe Martha Stewart will have a good recipe for 'Four Thieves' Vinegar'...

So Mr_Subj., you're not gonna be visiting my blog for the next month...? Actually, I'm with you on MOST of this keep-away list, but I can't NOT watch 'It's a Wonderful Life'...lol!
Um...when is boxing day??
