Saturday morning Sheba and/or Nina picture

I was taking the picture for the weed (prickly lettuce / Lactuca serriola? Sonchus asper?), but Sheba jumped in there as I was doing so. It's not a particularly good picture of either one of them, but she had a nice facial expression, I thought.

I don't think it's a Lactuca serriola based on the pictures I'm seeing online but it does look like something I was looking for an ID on a while ago. Do the leaves attach to the stems with a spiral shape reminiscent of a Rex Begonia leaf? Possibly Sonchus asper if they do...

There's a section on Identifying Characteristics at that site which compares the two.

Yup, she does have a nice expression...like she's smiling. She looks very, very happy.

I don't think it's Lactuca serriola either. The leaves look totally different from what I learned was L. serriola (there are pictures on my blog somewhere ... here: http://ivynettle.wordpress.com/2010/07/16/compass-plant/. But I can't offer a better ID. :(

I agree, it's not Lactuca. Probably Sonchus asper. Haven't been back to look. (Have I mentioned I've been busy?)
