Pretty picture: red shed-barn-thing
Just a picture from one of the husband's and my drives in the country. We do this a lot, even with gas prices being high, though now we try to justify it by having an actual destination, whereas before we weren't necessarily trying to get anywhere in particular.
This picture doesn't have any particular significance: we came to a T-intersection and this happened to be at the end of it, and it looked photogenic, so I took a picture. Turns out it actually was photogenic, so good for me.
I don't know if this is technically a barn, because I'm not sure what requirements something has to meet before it can be properly called a barn. The dictionary just says they have to be big, and store tools and / or livestock. Which this one probably does. I mean, if I had tools and / or livestock, I'd totally try to put them in a building like this.
It's so sad that most farmers don't keep up their barns anymore... absentee owners and renters that just row crop. Nice picture.

What a fabulous photo! It belongs in the pages of a magazine...
ReplyDeleteThe quintessential symbol of rural America. I remember red barns as the calendar subject for at least one month for every year in the 1950s when I was growing up. The barns in Arizona were nothing like this--so I wasn't clear as to whether Arizona qualified to be on calendars.
