Pretty pictures: Gerbera jamesonii flowers
It's apparently Gerbera season: we've just started getting them in at work again. I don't have a lot to say about these: I think gerbs are pretty self-explanatory.
This also serves as the announcement of my spring hiatus: there will be no new posts from 20-23 March, and then we're back to business as usual with a post of some kind on the 24th.
One time I bought some of these and I swear one had a little happy face in the center. I assume someone with a sharp object put it there, but maybe not. Maybe it was just a happy Gerbera!
Gerberas are just the classical, prototypical flower, aren't they? Ask a little kid to draw a flower and you'll probably get some approximation of your pictures. Complete with such varied colors...
I have trouble keeping them alive too Sheila. Whether it is just the flowers in water ... which droop or the potted plants ... which have buds that never open, I have no luck. Does anyone have an answer for all these problems?
Can anyone actually keep these things alive for more than 6 weeks? I sure can't.

Lovely colors! I've never had a Gerbera that didn't point downward after 2 days. Odd habit.
