I associate close-up pictures of Violas with Fairegarden, because one of the first posts of hers I saw (and I'm almost positive the first post I commented on) was all about the volunteer Violas that had popped up in her garden last year, and the unique and varied flowers that resulted. I don't quite have it in me to create names and biographies for each of these twelve flowers like Frances did, but perhaps a little personality comes through regardless. They're all named varieties, though I don't have the names for any of them (for reasons which are complicated and not very interesting).

So many of them! I've yet to meet one of them in person.
How gorgeous! Love that dark flower...
Yeah, gotta love those little guys.
Part of the fun of growing violas is the surprise when the seedlings pop up the next year. I just move all the pots filled with violas into odd spots under the shrubbery as soon as the weather gets really hot, and they throw their seeds hither and yon.
What a wonderful mystery mix that turns out to be. Somehow they even migrate into the vegetable garden.
Awww! I love the happy faces!
Wow, that black one is ... weird. Not exactly pretty, but interesting. Do people really plant those, though? Seems to me that such dark flowers wouldn't be very visible, if you know what I mean - from a greater distance, I don't think they'd be very noticeable. Though I guess a few of them in a spot where they are easy to see could be cool.
I like the last one best. I'll have to try to find one like it for my very own.
Hi Mr. Sub, your violas are charming, even without names and background checks. Thanks for the link love too. I never met a viola that I didn't love, they are all beauties and deserving of special attention, oohs and aahs. And I do believe that was your first comment. :-) Or was it about the Mouse and Trowel thing?
Frances
Wonderful, such pretty, delicate flowers.
Absolutely beautiful pictures! I love that you captured so many different varieties! The yellow and purple has to be my favorite- I love complimentary colors :)
