Portals
One: the first batch of plants are ready to be mailed out. If you're reading this after 10 AM Monday, CDT, they're probably already somewhere in the postal system, even, barring some sort of horrible catastrophe, sudden appearance of an interdimensional portal, etc.
Two: I did another interview, the results of which are up today at EDGE on the Net, which describes itself as "the largest network of local Gay, Lesbian Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) news and entertainment portals in the world." This leaves me a little puzzled still about what EDGE actually is, but in any case, I'm in it: Strange Fruit (and Flowers and Leaves).
To readers arriving from EDGE: Hi! You might be interested in The Best Houseplants You're (Probably) Not Growing, or the plant profiles (see list in the sidebar).
Congrats on the interview! :D I liked your half of the article -- even Sheba and Nina got mentions!
ReplyDeleteThe first half, however, read like an ad for Logee's. And I don't really care for the title -- reminds me too much of the Billie Holiday song and it seems a little inappropriate to use it for a light-hearted article about plants.
I like the pic of Nina they used. :)
I don't know why, but the Logee's stuff doesn't bother me that much. It's the sort of thing that ordinarily would bother me, but in this case, I have enough other problems with the whole experience (including, yes, the title, which at minimum is in questionable taste) that I guess the ad-ness of it doesn't register.
ReplyDeleteYes, the title was a little odd, but I thought the article was pretty cool and amusing. Am definitley ordering a copy of the Bizarre plants book.
ReplyDeleteYour blog was nicely featured- I have never even seen prism cactus before, its gorgeous. Sorry you had a bad experience, what happened?

Park Slope Felicia:
ReplyDeleteYou should see the flower.
Would rather not discuss the problems with the article publicly; it's not going to fix the problems, and anyway the problems are less with the article itself than with the experience as a whole. The article itself reads okay as far as I'm concerned (though admittedly I looked more closely at my part than at the rest of it, which might be another reason why I'm relatively unbothered by the Logee's stuff).
Sorry to hear you had problems with the experience but still, ongratulations on the interview -- heading over there now to check it out.
