I spent the better part of Sunday and Monday packing plants. One box is no big deal, but sixteen (the actual number I mailed) not only took forever1 but also left me sore, somehow.2 Also my face has decided to break out all of a sudden, so I'm getting that late-stage meth-addict look, which would be okay if I'd gotten the early-stage meth-addict euphoria as well, but I didn't, so I feel sort of cheated. This is admittedly hard to pin on the plant-packing, but since I'm already whining I'm going to throw it in anyway, 'cause who knows, it might be because of the plant-packing.
If the pattern from previous years holds, this was the roughest plant-mailing week I'll have this spring/summer, so I'm almost ready to get back to something like making "actual" blog posts, whatever those are.

1 (Where "forever" = about 7 hours on Sunday and 5 hours on Monday, plus time spent at the Post Office)
2 (The title references the old joke, "I just flew in from [town] and boy are my arms tired.") However (surprise twist!), it's actually more my back than my arms.

Hey--my sympathy for both the back and the breakout--suggestions: I have often had plant based reactions, or it might be packing material, or even overexertion--for the back I recommend ice pack to reduce swelling if the pain is localized, such as lower lumbar, and taking homeopathic "Traumeel" which comes in both pills and ointment (get both at any drug or health food store that sells such)--for the breakout I suggest homeopathic sulfur (these have worked for me in similar conditions). Meanwhile, rest and repair, drink green tea, and be well as soon as possible.
I bet there are going to be some very happy houseplant owners in the near future, though! :D
...wow. That's a heck of a lot of plants! I can't wait for some of those to be some of mine. I hope USPS reads my note "Leave package on under steps!"
aww, what a nice bunch of plants :)
I hope their new owners will be happy with them.
(plus I'm a little jealous, as there are quite some plants I'd love to buy if it wasn't US only - don't interpret it as complaining, I see why you made this decision)
I, for one, am thankful that you went through all that wrapping and packing. I'm gonna be a happy lady (probably) tomorrow.
Wow that is a lot of plants and work. If it helps at all, I got my plants today (plus two other from elsewhere) and I was giddy as a kid at Christmas. And I have to say the plants you sent look amazing. Tell your hubby he's required to give you back rubs per your readers.
Since reading this post I've been substituting "is my back" for "are my arms" in, "and boy, are my arms tired!" I got a ton of good ones now.
