Music Video: Mighty Mike "Heart-Shaped Desires" (Nirvana / Muse mashup)

I found this one too late to include it in the January mashup-fest, but I really like it. It'd been a long time since I'd heard "Heart-Shaped Box" in any context, and I wasn't familiar with Muse at all. Without all the loud, grinding guitars, "Heart-Shaped Box" turns out to be kind of pretty. Kind of.

Music Video: G3rst "Bloom to Me" (Koop / Nirvana mashup)

Can I claim this as being in honor of tomorrow's Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day? Probably too much of a stretch. Anyway. Nirvana's "In Bloom," reinterpreted through a Swedish jazz duo I'd never heard of, which somehow produces a swing version of Nirvana. The video doesn't change, but the photoshopped image of Kurt Cobain is amusing, so. Enjoy. (?)

I don't know why Nirvana gets mashed up so much. I figure it's got to be either especially easy (could all the individual tracks have been released to the public at some point?) or especially rewarding (whether they want to or not, everybody is familiar with Nirvana to some degree, so playing with their music might get you more attention).

Music video: Go Home Productions "Smells Like Rockin' Robin" (Jackson 5 / Nirvana mashup)

Much less politically problematic than yesterday's. This is more . . . stylistically problematic. I find it kind of riotously funny, but I'm into songs with depressed/angry lyrics over top of bouncy, happy music anyway, so this is exactly the sort of thing I would like. Maybe you'll like it too, maybe not. (If you do, see also "Groove is in the Black Hole Sun," at the top of this post, which combines Dee-Lite's "Groove is in the Heart" with Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun." I've been fond of it for a long time. Alas, there's no video to go with it.)
