Pretty picture: Lewisia cotyledon 'Praline' flower

I'm fairly certain we had these last year, too, but I don't remember ever seeing any flowers, just the (unimpressive) plants. Of course, so many things were going on last spring that I was bound to miss a few of them. Or most of them. Whatever.

This doesn't particularly make me want one. Pretty though the flowers are, they're not huge, and if you don't have them where they can be looked at closely, then you miss a lot of the show. Perhaps a container garden on top of a short column, next to a chair, would work. Something like that.

Pretty, indeed!

Gack! Yes, the flower is lovely, but I thank God I've never seen a pink praline (one of my favorite confections, a creamy brown-sugar caramel color, and pronounced PRAH-leen, not PRAY-leen, just fyi). I just don't think I could eat one if it was pink...

One of my favourites, I love the whole plant and it is a very attractive flower.

I had a similar reaction to Lewisias when I worked at a nursery: pretty when I was picking them up and moving them around and sticking my face in them, but not something I was incredibly inclined to take home and cherish as my own.
