I'm not a particularly big fan of this plant, though I can't explain quite why: I can't see anything terribly wrong with it, and I don't have any bad associations with it as far as I can remember. Though I don't like trying to clean them up once they're mostly bloomed-out. Those little dead flowers get everywhere..jpg)
Perhaps it's just a matter of taste. They're certainly colorful enough. Maybe I'd like them if I tried them. I don't know.
In any case, these two pictures make nice bookends for one another: nothing like yellow with an orange center to complement orange with a yellow center.

These are particularly beautiful specimens. I love the bicolor orange-yellow ones the best!!!
One of the pluses to them is that they are winter bloomers. A good selling point for those who have long winters.
I like kalanchoe because it is one of those plants you can establish (in the ground here in Florida) and pretty much forget.
It blooms at least twice a year and the only bothersome thing about it is the deadheading.
By the way, I've just discovered Plants are the Strangest People and I find your posts not only informative but entertaining.
