How come there are no hybrid orchids with this color scheme, but big frilly petals and sepals like your standard corsage catt? Or are there, and I just haven't been paying attention? 'Cause I kind of like this, except for how skinny it is.

Pretty epicatt. You mean green-yellow-pink combination? How about Blc. Greenwich ‘Elmhurst'?
This is one of my all time favorite orchids, I just wish I could keep them alive here is south Florida. Any tips? lol best wishes
orchideya:
Sorta similar, I guess, but the yellow and green on Blc. Greenwich ‘Elmhurst' aren't really distinct; from the pictures that come up on Google, it's just yellowish-green and pink. Not quite what I was thinking of.
Sheri Burg, aka. Gardening Girl PB:
I just take pictures; I don't grow 'em. (Orchids and I mostly don't get along.)
*jealous*
Why would you want ugly Cattleya like petals? :) I prefer the skinny Epidendrum petals myself.
Zach:
It's not so much that I'd want the huge, super-frilly petals that some of the catts have. I'm just surprised that if this is a conceivable color combination, nobody's managed to do it in something a bit froofier.
Also I don't object to the Epidendrum petals exactly, but to me they look excessively skinny.
a few of a more/less similar color scheme:
- Blc. Ahchung Emerald
- Blc. Young Kong
- Epic. Mae Bly
- Pry. Chief Green River
