Saturday afternoon Nina picture

Picture's a little dark because it was night at the time and she was asleep; I didn't want to risk waking her up by turning the light on. The curled-tail thing is something I've seen her do occasionally, though it's uncommon.

Nice view of Nina's backside..haha! Her tail is impressive! Will she hang out on your shoulder?

She looks slightly haughty in a regal way. Probably befriends the deserving! She is lovely...

Great shot, Mr. S.! Her markings make the curled tail look like a Bishop's crozier. Very impressive!

I love these Nina photos. She's adorable!

Do you ever take her out of her home?

I'd love to be able to take her out and let her run around or whatever, but she would just try to escape among the plants, or down the heat vents, or anything else that looked promising, so I haven't been letting her out.

I do actually need to figure out a way to get her out safely for brief periods, though: the sides of the aquarium have gotten spotted from hard water (Lone Tree water is significantly less pleasant than Iowa City water), and I need a way to clean them off that's not going to poison Nina or any of the plants, plus I need her not to be there when I do it. I may also want to change some of the plantings while I have her out; some of the plants have taken over, leaving the others kind of pointless.

So she'll have to relocate fairly soon, if only briefly. I'm just not sure how to make that happen.

Get her a second little aquarium, Mr. S! (Sort of like the 2-gallon "hospital tanks" tropical fish folks have when they need to temporarily isolate fish.) You can put wood chips or something on the bottom and a branch for her to climb on, and she'll be fine for the few hours it takes you to clean and renovate her home.

Love the curled tail! :-)

That pink thing she's sleeping on makes it look like she's curled up with her blanky! Lol. ;-)

Hm, to safely remove hard water stains on terrarium glass, you can use a mix of 1 part white vinegar with 3 part water. Just enough to soak a small towel or piece of scott towel to wash away the stains, and then dry the surface.

You can put her in any small and empty opaque or clear container with holes in it while you clean or work on her terrarium. It won't harm, as long as it is somewhat at the same temperature as the terrarium, and not for longer than a couple of hours.
