Too Far

I am extremely tired of ads promising to tell me my credit score, whiten my teeth, or teach me the one simple rule I need to follow for amazing weight loss. I've seen so many of these by now that they generally don't even register, unless they're in a really annoying location or something -- and if I do notice them, it's only to wish a miserable death on the company that paid for the ad, the websites that accepted the ad, and the designers who created the ad. However, this one was far enough over the line that I was actually amused (and repulsed) instead, briefly:

I swear this has not been resized, recolored, or modified in any way, aside from cropping it out of the page where I found it.

Beyond the amazingness of the picture--"7 shades whiter for less than $0"?? What is less than $0? Do they PAY you to whiten your teeth?

Umm...That's just wrong.

That is super-scary!

I don't appreciate your backhanded way of poking fun at people with this problem. If I were to take a picture now, my teeth would be this same exact color. I feel so ashamed when I'm at the grocery store or something and someone looks, or even goes so far as to ask me about it. "Aphids," I say. "I eat aphids."

When marketing goes just a little too far...

Oh, gross! That is too classic! I hate seeing all those ads, too, and unfortunately, I don't seem to be able to ignore them. Wrinkles, flab, teeth, stretch marks, acne: eeeewwwww!!!! It horrifies me that this stuff can come at me through the internet. I can avoid TV, but even I can't stop using my computer! Grrrrrr.

And can I just add, if you're using Firefox, the Ad Block Plus add-on will change your life. I haven't seen an acai berry in months.
