Nina doesn't hang from the wire mesh on top of her cage very often, but it happens often enough that I've gotten frustrated with trying to get a picture of it. Normally she sees me coming and jumps down immediately. It was something of a relief to finally get it documented.

Really cool photo! Looks like you finally caught her in the act!
No... The Impatiens...! They're trying to eat her.
Ha! This is great, Mr. S.! Our dear departed bronze-winged pionus parrot, Marcus Hookbill, also had an affinity for hanging upside-down from the top of his cage in the most batlike manner. We loved it, but (of course) never got it on film. Damn! Glad you were able to catch Nina.
That's cool! :-)
How does she get up there?
Tom:
That's an interesting question. I have no idea: I've never seen her do it.
She probably jumps. They are great jumpers. And she was probably going to the light to get warm.
This is a very old post, I'm sure Nina is no longer with us.
