I think the one on the right is some kind of caudex-forming succulent, maybe a Pachypodium or Adenium or something. The one on the left looks like nothing I've ever seen. (Via the blog Houseplants.)

That's awesome! Have you seen John Denver sing "Inch by Inch" on the Muppet Show surrounded by a bunch of singing plants?
Which right is your right and which mine? The taller plant, on my right, looks a bit orchidy to me, something like Coelogyne. Stinky looks like an ornamental cabbage.
Megan:
I haven't, but I'll keep a lookout.
Pat:
Yeah, I can see the one on the right being an orchid, maybe. I'm less willing to accept Stinky as an ornamental cabbage, though the name would make more sense that way, I suppose.
I am assuming Stinky had lost his colour due to light deprivation and cabbage white caterpillars had nibbled his outer leaves. The flower that pops out of his head doesn't quite fit but I am not taking this that seriously.
I have just realised that I am assuming you are standing behind your blog looking out. Must make it tricky doing the typesetting.
Pat:
I wondered what you meant by that. It's an interesting idea. (Yes, it would make typesetting a bit more of a challenge. Though I suppose once one did it long enough, it'd get easier.)
I was trying not to point out the mistake directly. "I think the one on the right is ... The one on the right looks like nothing I've ever seen." We Brits tie ourselves in knots with etiquette.
Pat:
Oh. That's what I get for thinking it was such a short post I didn't need to worry about proofreading, I guess. Fixed. (Thanks.)
I can't think of the name off the top of my head but the one on the right looks like one of those "lucky" Aisan plants. The one I'm thinking of has umbrella-like foliage and there's usually two or three stalks braided together.
Gawd, I hate that I can't recall of the name as I was just thinking I should add one to my collection of plants I've killed the other day.
MrBrownThumb:
Pachira aquatica? I can't think of the common name for it, but it's got the palmate foliage, and I see braided ones a lot.
Could it be the "Lucky Bamboo" which is actually a Dracaena? http://outdoorsin.wordpress.com/2009/02/18/dracenas/
